Election
campaigning of all parties is in full swing on Lok Sabha elections (Lok Sabha
Election 2019). The first round of voting has also been done on 11th April.
This time there are total voting in seven phases. Seventh and final phase will
be held on May 19 and results will be announced on May 23. Among these, many
surveys have been predicted that some seats may be left behind by the BJP-led
NDA majority. In such a situation, regional parties can have a big role in
deciding which government will be formed at the Center. YSR Congress, led by YS
Jaganmohan Reddy Under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao-led TRS, Odisha
chief minister Naveen Patnaik and the BSP-SP alliance, who have maintained
equal distance between both the BJP-led NDA and the UPA-led Congress, all will
have a special look.
The TDP, led
by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and TDP of Chandrababu Naidu can
also play a role in the formation of the government at the Center. Mamta
Banerjee and Chandrababu Naidu have been trying to create anti-BJP alliance and
even in this effort, they have mixed ties with the Congress. However, Mamata
Banerjee has been targeting the Congress with a strong attack on the BJP, who
has responded equally.
While BSP and
SP have been condemning the BJP, they have kept the Congress out of their
pre-election alliance and have shown it to be unimportant. These regional
parties can win about 180 out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats and they will decide
how many seats they will win in this election. Hung parliament will create many
possibilities and non-Congress and non-BJP camps would like the same situation.
Jaganmohan
Reddy had said earlier this month that he hopes to be the condition of hung
parliament so that he can get a better deal for the state. Makkal Nidhi Moyam
(MNM) leader Kamal Haasan has also said that it is likely that the Lok Sabha
elections will create a hung parliament and become a third front government.
According to a pre-poll conducted by the Center for Study of Developing
Societies (CSDS), despite the increase in vote share, BJP may lose seats
because of 'more united opposition' in key states. In the survey, BJP has been
projected to get 222 to 232 seats, which is much less than the 283 seats it won
in 2014.
Pre-poll
shows that Congress party can win 74-84 seats, which won only 44 seats in 2014.
According to the survey, the National Democratic Alliance can not even reach
the majority figure and it is likely to get between 263 to 283 seats. The
United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has been projected to get 115 to 135 seats.
It was said in the survey released in mid-March that the NDA is likely to get
264 seats, which is less than eight seats for the 272 figures required to form
a government. In this survey, the Congress-led UPA was estimated to get only
141 seats. In some surveys, the NDA has also been predicted to get majority.
There is also
discussion of the formation of a federal front before the elections and Rao
also held meetings with non-BJP and non-NDA parties before the election. Such
efforts can be faster after the election. If there is a possibility of the
formation of the third front, then some BJP and Congress partners can also be
included in it.
